Good Trip Hop...

Good what? It's music...ambient, chill, techno-lounge, acid jazz - it's all the same thing. It's not floor-pounding, earsplitting industrial dance mixes; trip hop is the balm for all the nasty music in your life.

About 10 years ago, I discovered it by researching a tune I had heard on a commercial for...I think it was Dockers. The tune was "Tropicando", by Les Baxter, a tiki lounge composer. (For those who like that stuff, check out Martin Denny - classic!)

Anyway, I realized I had found a new genre of music for myself. I found Thievery Corporation, Nicola Conte, Ursula 1000, Morcheeba, BT, Massive Attack, and a host of other fun bands combining lounge and electronica.

You can look up any of these on Wikipedia - just follow the breadcrumbs and you'll find a shred of beatnik peace. Drink it in.
